Advancing the Patient Experience of Care, Part Two: Patient Care Experience using a Multi-Generational Approach

This activity will identify the six generational groups within the patient population. The importance of understanding the unique traits and characteristics of each generational group to improve communication with the patients will be described. This awareness will enable improvement in the productive interactions between a prepared, proactive practice team, and the informed, activated patient. Understanding the uniqueness of each generation will positively benefit the communication strategies used to effectively care for and about these patients and improve their experience of care.

• Identify the six generational groups within the patient population
• Describe the traits and characteristics of six generational groups
• Create two communication strategies that reflect generational differences in the practice setting
